ANNOUNCING THE SOLOMON CARTER FULLER TRAINEE TRAVEL AWARD 2026
The INA is delighted to announce the Solomon Carter Fuller Trainee Travel Award to assist with the costs of attending the INA World Congress. Applicants will be physician trainees who demonstrate significant interest in neuropsychiatry as demonstrated by laboratory and/or clinical study of neuropsychiatric conditions and will be selected based on the quality of their abstract submission to the INA Congress and other nomination materials. Expression of interest for the INA 2026 Trainee Travel Award to attend the conference in Cape Town South Africa opens on 9th March and will close on 15th April with the outcome announced by 30th July. Applications for the 2026 award should be sent to internationalneuropsychiatry@gmail.com.
The applicant should be from a country other than South Africa and should attach the scientific abstract submitted to the INA/Biological Psychiatry conference , a personal statement of no more than 500 words describing their career trajectory toward neuropsychiatry and a detailed letter of recommendation for the award from a faculty member familiar with their work. Abstract Submission Guidelines
- All submissions must be made online via the website; submissions sent by email will not be considered.
- Please note that all submissions will be reviewed by the congress organising committee and selected for inclusion in the programme based on scientific review criteria and availability within the congress programme. Incomplete submissions will not be eligible for review and selection.
- The Committee reserves the right to reassign submissions as either oral or poster presentations, regardless of the preference indicated.
- Presenting authors of accepted submissions are responsible for registration fees, travel, and accommodation. Sponsorship is not provided by the Organising Committee; presenters are encouraged to seek their own if required.
Abstract Deadlines
- The deadline for abstract submissions is 31 March 2026. Registrars are especially encouraged to submit.
- The corresponding author will be notified by email of the review outcome. All submissions will be acknowledged, with acceptance or rejection letters sent by 15 July 2026.
- Full registration, including payment, must be completed by 30 September 2026.
Submission Structure
- Submissions must be in English only.
- The abstract title should be in sentence case (only the first word of the title and any proper nouns or names should begin with a capital letter) and should not exceed 25 words.
- The abstract body should be in paragraph form and not exceed 350 words. Abstracts submitted in ALL CAPS will not be considered.

The abstract should include the following subheadings:
• Background/Aim: Briefly describe the study and state the aim.
• Methodology: Describe subjects and research methods.
• Results: Outline findings, supported by statistics where appropriate. Figures, graphs, or tables should not be included; data must allow peer review.
• Conclusion: Summarise the main findings and their relevance. - Provide the full name, surname, affiliation, and country of all authors, listing the presenting author first. Do not include qualifications. Ensure all authors have approved their inclusion.
- Carefully proofread the abstract for spelling, grammar, and factual accuracy before submission. All accepted abstracts will be published as submitted.
- Complete all required fields on the online submission form accurately.
Presenters Responsibilities
- The submitting author is considered the presenting author and will serve as the corresponding author.
- In case of emergency, an alternative presenter may be nominated.
- Presenting authors are responsible for their registration fees. Accepted submissions will only be included in the programme once full registration and payment have been completed by 30 September 2026.
- Abstracts not complying with the required format will not be published.
- Prizes for the best abstract presentations will be awarded at the congress dinner.
